My conversation with Mark Rudd:
"To discover to the world something which deeply concerns it, and of which it was previously ignorant; to prove to it that it had been mistaken on some vital point of temporal or spiritual interest, is as important a service as a human being can render to his fellow creatures..." What value did they have and how did the violent ways of some of them help or hurt the movement? Mark Rudd has spent the last forty years evaluating the choices he made as a member of Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) and the more violent Weather Underground. In his new memoir, Underground: My Life with SDS and the Weathermen,Mark Rudd reveals the first hand drama as well as the naivete of one of the most controversial periods in U.S. history.
