"To discover to the world something which deeply concerns it, and of which it was previously ignorant; to prove to it that it had been mistaken on some vital point of temporal or spiritual interest, is as important a service as a human being can render to his fellow creatures..."
John Stuart Mill, "On Liberty"
In just a few days Tiger Woods returns to the links and to the PGA tour. It's not clear who will be happier, CBS, The PGA, other professional golfers, or the tens of millions of dollars in sponsors that Tiger still carries. Either way, while golf was never the same after Tiger came on the scene, it may never be the same after his absence and return.
A week ago, Jonathan Mahler wrote, as a New York Times Magazine cover story, about the "Tiger Bubble." For those that haven't read it, it's worth a read as The Masters gets underway. For those that have, it's a good reminder what what we'll be seeing in the next few days.
