"To discover to the world something which deeply concerns it, and of which it was previously ignorant; to prove to it that it had been mistaken on some vital point of temporal or spiritual interest, is as important a service as a human being can render to his fellow creatures..." The Icarus Syndrome: A history of American Hubris
There is no one right now who is doing a better job of covering politics and world affairs than Peter Beinart. He is the senior political writer for The Daily Beast, a former editor of The New Republic and an associate professor of journalism and political science at the City University of New York. His new book The Icarus Syndrome: A History of American Hubris and his June 10th article about "The Failure of the American Jewish Establishment," in the New York Review of Book, have garnered wide and enthusiastic attention.
